Just a reminder that tomorrow is the last day to sign up for our new sushi lunch through school cash online.  If you are interested in signing up for the first session (which begins on November 7th) please do so before tomorrow night.

Thank you.

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Our Touchstone Council is very excited about our First Annual SPOOK-A-THON for The Hospital for Sick Children.

To date we have raised over $300.00 with our top classes being:

1st Mrs. Behar’s 3/4s ($50.00)

2nd Mrs. Rosenblatt and Mr. Kim’s JK/SK class ($37.00)

3rd place goes to Mrs. Nishio’s class ($34.00).

The top earning class gets an extra period at the dance or games room.

For your information, the schedule for Tuesday, October 31 will be:

8:45 a.m. – Junior Kindergarten to Grade 4 Parade – students who choose to dress up in costume can join a parade around the school while our students in grades 5 – 8 stand along the hallways as an audience.

*students in JK to grade 4 should come to school dressed in costume to avoid any delays for the parade

*students in grades 5 – 8 can change into a costume at school after morning recess

9:05 a.m. – Grade 1 and 2 – in the GYM (Dance) or in the LIBRARY (Games and Reading Room)

9:35 a.m. – Grade 3 and 4 – in the GYM (Dance) or in the LIBRARY (Games and Reading Room)

RECESS – all JK and SK students in the GYM

10:30 a.m. – “bonus” time to the class that raises the most money along with popcorn for everyone in the class

11:10 – 12:10 – Grade 5 and 6 in the GYM (Dance) or Games Room (LIBRARY)

1:15 – 2:50 – Grade 7 and 8 – SPOOK A THON Dance and Games Room (open)

There will be treats and snacks available for sale so students in grades 3-8 will be able to purchase some “goodies” and can bring money with them to the Dance or Games Room. There will also be treats for the students in JK to Grade 2 – but these will be given out free as a gift, and they will be nut-free as well.

If you have not sent in your donation, you still have until Tuesday to do so. Our Touchstone Council hopes to raise $500.00 for the Hospital for sick Children.

Four Friendly Reminders

Hello Parents and Guardians.  I would like to send a note with a few important reminders as we approach the final half of October 2017.

  1. Tomorrow is October 20 and it is a Professional Activity Day for schools in York Region. Staff members will be engaged in activities around school improvement planning (math, modern learning and well-being) and there is no school for students on this day.

  1. Tonight Westmount Secondary School is holding the ARTS Westmount Open House for all families who are interested in possibly pursuing an ARTS program for High School. The program starts at 7:00 p.m.

  1. On Monday, October 23 at 7:00 p.m, we will have our School Council Meeting in the library. The meeting typically runs until approximately 8:20 p.m. All parents and guardians are welcome to attend.

  1. On October 31 our Touchstone Team will be hosting a special event for The Hospital for Sick Children. This year’s kick off fundraiser is in support of the cardiac unit at Sick Children’s Hospital. We are hosting a dance (and costume parade for JK – Grade 3 students who wish to participate) where classes who raise the most money will have 40 – 100 minutes at a dance event in the gymnasium. Costumes are optional and all students will be reminded about appropriate dress and safe schools (ie. no real or replica weapons allowed on school property). A games room and a reading room will be available for students who prefer these options in place of the dance. A letter regarding donations will come home next week.

As there is no school for students tomorrow, have a great weekend and I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday the 24th.

Yours sincerely,

Vincent Anania – Principal

NEW!!! Sushi Lunch!!

We are happy to introduce a new vegetarian sushi lunch option catered by D-Lite’s. They are sensitive to different allergies and therefore do not use any shellfish or sesame in their orders.

The program will run on TUESDAYS for 7 weeks as follows:
November 7, 14, 21 & 28
December 5, 12 & 19

Students have the choice of either avocado, cucumber or avocado/cucumber rolls. There are 8 pieces in each. You can also add an order of edamame for $2.50.

The cost per week is $5 (sushi only w/o edamame) for a total of $35.00 for 7 weeks.

All orders must be placed through School Cash Online by October 31, 2017.
